# The Basics

The Tutorial is currently being updated to work with the 3.0 released February so there will be a mix of guides for older versions, the new update and some will…. well, they will be missing until they are completed

### Requesting an Account

Educational Provider: If you are using App-Rentice through an Educational Provider e.g. Polytechnic or Industry Training Organisation (ITO) you will be provided with a Username and (initial) Password.

Individuals: Anyone is able to use App-Rentice and we are adding more qualifications as they are requested. If your qualification is not available you can still use App-Rentice with the generic curriculum.

1. Go to [www.app-rentice.webapp.nz](http://www.app-rentice.webapp.nz/) and select ‘Request Access’

2. Provide the requested information and select ‘Submit’

3. Once your details have been verified, you will be sent a confirmation email with your login information.

### Login

**2.0**

Access the App

1. Enter your Username or Email
2. Enter your Password
3. Select Login

_It is recommended your try the app with the temp password given to you by your provider, then use the ‘Forgot Password’ function to set your own password._

**2.1**

Non-Logged in Content

4. Request an Account not applicable for tutor/Assessors
5. Take the Tour a view only demo of the student account with pop up descriptions of the features, a tutor/assessor version is coming
6. Web Link - find out more info about App-Rentice
7. Forgot Password - reset you password
8. Request Deletion - Apple Store requirement, not applicable for tutor/assessor accounts as this is managed at an admin level

### Reset Your Password

**2.2**

1. Enter your email
2. After selecting Reset Password the page page will open requesting the code that was emailed to you.

_There is currently an issue with Gmail accounts receiving the verification code email, please see your tutor/assessor to have them reset your password._

**2.3**

1. Enter the Verification code that was sent to you
2. Enter your new password
3. Repeat the password
4. Select Update Password to reset or Cancel

_Passwords should contain at least one upper and lowercase letter, a number, and a symbol_
